ROCKLIN, Calif. – A double-double from sophomore
Anthony Enoh led the way on Thursday night as Jessup picked up another victory in their final home game of 2024. Following a 72-68 win against their Northern California rivals of Menlo College, the Warriors improve their start to the PacWest season to a perfect 3-0.
Jessup is now 6-3 on the year, including a 6-1 record at home on Horton Court.
Enoh had the big night as he scored a career-high 25 points, doing so on 7-of-17 from the floor and a 10-for-12 showing at the charity stripe. He also dominated on the glass, pulling down 14 boards, with five coming on the offensive end.
"Shout out to the coaches," said Enoh after the game, who noted the game plan was for him to attack down low in the paint. "I followed what they said and came out successful.
Head coach
Mark Darnall also singled out Enoh, adding, "Kudos to (Anthony), he was aggressive in there. He had a big-time game. I'm just proud of his effort."
The Warriors closed the night with 14 offensive rebounds that turned into 13 second-chance points.
Aydan Janssan also had a big night on the glass as he pulled down a game-high 15 boards. Both teams finished the night even with 44 boards per side.
Tamatoa Humbert was second in scoring with 18 points, with a dozen coming from three.
The first half was a close battle throughout, as the Warriors took a one-point lead into the locker room at 38-37. The Warriors led by as many as seven in the opening 20 minutes, but Menlo ended the half on a 9-3 run to trim the deficit.
Menlo then took the lead early in the second half on a 3-pointer from Landon Seaman, setting up a series of lead switches for the next ten minutes. The turning point came late in the second half when a pair of Oaks, including Seaman, reached their fourth foul, forcing Menlo to switch to a 1-3-1 zone on the defense end.
Jessup continued to attack down low after the Menlo switch, setting up two more critical trips to the free-throw line in the closing minutes. A 2-for-2 trip to the charity stripe from Enoh padded Jessup's lead to five, and after a Menlo three with 27 seconds remaining, Humbert sealed the win with a perfect trip to the line of his own.
Preston Le Gassick led Menlo's scoring with 23 points, followed by Seaman with 20 points.
Now, the Warriors shift their focus back to the road, as one more game awaits Jessup in 2024. The Warriors will leave for Southern California tomorrow for a meeting with Vanguard on Saturday. That contest is scheduled for 2 p.m.
"We'll put our hard hats on and pack our defense," added Darnall on the upcoming road test. "It's hard to win on the road. You have to do the tough things to have success.
Jessup's next home game will be on January 8 when Academy of Art comes to town.
