Warriors Sweep Their Way Through Pool Play

Jessup wins Pool B and will play the runner-up of Pool A Friday evening; The Warriors won nine of ten sets in pool play

POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. – A winner of Pool B has been decided after the Warriors squared off with the Lancers of Grace College. Thanks to a three-set sweep, Jessup has claimed first place in their pool and is one of four teams remaining in the 2024 NCCAA National Championship.

Jessup's opponent has not been declared, as they will take on the runner-up from Pool A.

The Warriors are one of two teams to go unbeaten through pool play. The other unbeaten team is Columbia International, who entered the tournament as the top seed. Jessup came into Missouri as the third seed and took down the second seed of Grace on Thursday night.

Senior Madalyn Miller again led the Jessup offense, totaling 13 kills. Miller finished the day with 37 kills, as she matched the program record for kills in a match with the 24 she put up in Thursday's opener against the College of the Ozarks.

Eliana Sheridan finished behind Miller with ten kills, while Taylor MacCuish contributed seven. Neena Dimas led in digs with 20, and Paulina Harris also contributed on defense with four blocks.

The first set was a nailbiter between the Warriors and Lancers, as Jessup squeaked out a 25-23 victory to take a 1-0 lead. Jessup followed that up with a 25-19 victory in the second, a score they have seen four times thus far in the postseason.

Grace did not back down, however, as they started the third set with a 7-1 run.

Down six, the Warriors battled back to even the score at 14 and eventually took the lead as part of a 9-2 run. Match point eventually came on a kill from Sheridan, as the Warriors took the finale, 25-22.

While it is not confirmed who the Warriors will play tomorrow night, the time is confirmed. Jessup will hit the court at 4 p.m. (PST), with the winner advancing to the national championship game. The first match of the day will see Columbia International square off with Grace.
