HELENA, Mont. - Another basketball season ends as the Warriors fall to the no. 23 Owls of Oregon Tech in the NAIA Opening Round in Helena, Montana.
Jessup ends their record-breaking season with a final score of 79-72. The Warriors finished their season with a 22-8 overall record and 9-5 in conference.
Jessup drew a ten seed in the Helena Regional as one of 64 teams to qualify for the postseason. This at-large selection was the second in the history of the women's basketball program at Jessup,
Oregon Tech got to an early start and, due to turnovers early in the game, kept its lead over the Warriors for the first two quarters. Jessup trailed right behind the Owls as they headed into halftime, 37-32.
The back-and-forth action continued throughout the game down to the final buzzer.
Kayla Vieira led the leaderboard with a respectable 15 points on the night. All GSAC-selection players
Makaila Napoleon and
Andrea Jovicevic had 12 points on the night.
Unfortunately, the Warriors couldn't capitalize and fell in a final score at Carroll College, 79-72, in favor of the Owls.
The season for Jessup ends with head coach
Corey Laster leading his team to a program-record winning season of 22 wins on the year. Jessup received votes in four straight polls throughout the season.
