Baseball Moves Up Two Spots to No. 7 in the Nation

The Warriors went 6-2 since the first coaches’ poll was released; Wednesday’s ranking matches the second-highest in program history

ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Warriors are on the move once again in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, as Wednesday's updated rankings show the Warriors climbing two spots. With a 26-6 record, Jessup Baseball has jumped up to No. 7 in the nation.

Jessup went 6-2 since the release of the last NAIA Coaches' Poll on March 13. The Warriors swept a three-game set with Arizona Christian and then took two of three with The Master's. Yesterday's split of Simpson was not factored into the poll, as voting was complete on Monday.

It's the second time the Warriors have been ranked No. 7 in program history. The Warriors were also ranked seventh in March 2018. No. 6 remains the highest ranking in program history from that same 2018 season.

The Warriors rank second in the NAIA this season in home runs, as they have hit 72. Their 136 extra-base hits are the fifth most in the country.

Jessup also features the top batting average in the nation, as Trey Furrey has boosted his batting average from .487 at the start of the Arizona Christian series to .519. Furrey has also slugged 14 home runs, which leads the GSAC.

Seven Warriors are currently batting over .300 (minimum 2 PA/Game). Joining Furrey are Bryce Petrilla (.435), James Williams III (.387), Connor Culp (.354), Drew Andrews (.350), Quinton Hall (.306), and Kayde Iranon (.306).

Through 32 games, the Warriors are averaging 10 runs/game.

Hope International (No. 16) and OUAZ (No. 25) are the two other GSAC programs to be ranked in the top 25. Arizona Christian and Vanguard are receiving votes.

But now the Warriors get to take a break, as their weekend series with Menlo College has been canceled. Menlo will instead be making up their three-game GSAC series with Hope International that was rained out earlier this year.

Jessup will be back in action on April 5 when they host Vanguard for the final home GSAC series of the season.
