Jessup Sees Fourth Series Sweep in Monday Doubleheader

Jessup sees fourth series sweep of the season; The weekend sweep pushes Jessup to eighth consecutive win

LINCOLN, Calif. - An early wake-up call on an overcast Monday morning sought a victorious day for the Warriors. Two wins on the day completed the series sweep against Bethesda University with a 15-run day.

Jessup is now 17-1 while playing on home turf at McBean and moving to 18-3 on the season.

The rain wasn't an issue for the Warriors today, as the weather cut short games yesterday. The scheduled nine and seven-inning games were entirely played out today, favoring the Warriors.

Game one saw four arms on the bump for the Warriors as Joey Miller started the game after being out due to injury. Bethesda would jump on top first, scoring three runs in the first three innings. That lead wouldn't last long, though, as Connor Culp continued his hot streak in the box with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third.

Evan Williams tossed five innings, allowing no runs to cross for earning the win to move to 1-0. Nolan Thebiay dominated in the bottom of the ninth with two strikeouts to taut the victory for the Warriors, winning 6-3.

The momentum carried over as Max Moreno got the nod for game two. Moreno tossed four innings with five strikeouts and only allowed one hit.

Bethesda had a big fifth inning to take the lead 4-1, but Jessup answered right back in the bottom of the fifth with five runs crossing the board. They would rack up three more runs in the sixth to validate the win in a final score of 9-4.

Drew Andrews tot up 3 RBIs, Bryce Petrilla with 2 RBIs, and Trey Furrey went 3-4 and crossed home plate three times.

This is one of the best home records Jessup has seen since 2019, when they went 26-4 at home. Jessup looks to chase that home win record and soar beyond that with the conference season still among them.

The Warriors will be back at McBean stadium for conference matchups against OUAZ next weekend with doubleheaders on both Friday and Saturday, with the first pitch set for 11:00 AM.
