SURPRISE, Ariz. – Jessup's NAIA and GSAC tennis era came to an end on Tuesday, as the Warriors were eliminated on day one of the GSAC Tournament. The Jessup men took a point in doubles play in their bout, while the women's team fell in a 4-0 final.
The men's side claimed the No. 5 seed in the conference tournament, placing them against No. 4 seed Hope International. On the women's side, the Warriors drew the No. 7 seed and a match with Menlo.
Jessup got one point in the men's match, thanks to the Warriors claiming two of three in doubles play.
Joan Garros and
Caleb Poling teamed up to win their match 7-5, while
Tanner Sitanggang and
David Perez were also victorious with a 6-4 final.
Hope then went on to sweep singles action, 4-0.
The women's match saw Menlo take two matches in doubles play, while the third went unfinished as the Oaks had secured the point/ They then went on to win three in singles play to take the bout.
At the time of the stoppage,
Jessica Holbea had a one-set lead, and
Annika Rojas was leading in the second set.
Jessup University will transition into NCAA Division II and the PacWest Conference following this season. Tuesday brings to an end the final GSAC matches the Warriors will compete in.
