ROCKLIN, Calif. – The 2023-24 season for the Jessup University golf program was one filled with miles as the Warriors toured the West Coast in their final NAIA season. With trips across the Pacific Ocean and even one to the Midwest, Jessup ended this era of the program in style.
Jessup competed in four states in the 2023-24 season, as tournaments took them to Arizona, Illinois, and Hawaii. With the first tournament coming in early September, Jessup stretched the season as long as they could, as one student-athlete ended her year at the NAIA National Championship.
That honor came to sophomore
Jessica Burdick, as her victory at the 2024 GSAC Golf Tournament clinched her an automatic berth in the field for the 2024 NAIA Women's Golf National Championship at TPC Deere Run. Burdic became the second player in program history to qualify for nationals, joining Gurman Kaur-Knight in that category.
Jessup began their fall with a duo of trips to the Bay Area, as the season saw visits to Cal Maritime and Menlo. The Warriors also visited Southern California twice, as Jessup competed at The Master's and Vanguard.
The visit to TMU would see Burdick place second individually.
Then came the big trip, as the Warriors traveled across the Pacific for two tournaments in Hawaii.
Jessup's Hawaii trip gave them an early look at their new conference, the PacWest, as tournaments were hosted by Hawaii Pacific and Hawaii Hilo. Both tournaments occurred in Kamuela, as the Warriors ended the fall season in the Aloha State.
Then came a break, as the Warriors would go three months without a tournament.
The hiatus came to an end when Jessup made their second trip of the season to Menlo, this time for the annual PCH Invitational. What followed was another break, as a series of cancelations made it nearly two more months with no golf before the Simpson Invitational on March 25.
Jessup wrapped up the regular season with the first-ever Senior Day in program history, as the Warriors welcomed teams to Darkhorse Golf Club in Auburn.
The final GSAC Championship in program history came in mid-April, as the Warriors ended their ten-year run with Burdick's championship performance, sending her off to Illinois.
In the two months since the golf season ended, plenty of news has still been happening in the golf world. Most notable was the hire of head coach Seth Heppner, who will lead his first team into competition when the Warriors make their NCAA Division II debut this fall.
The 2024-25 season will be filled with firsts as a new era of the program is ready to get underway.
