SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Game one of a three-game stint in the Bay Area saw the Warriors square off with the Dominican Penguins on Saturday afternoon. After taking a lead into the locker room, Jessup saw Dominican come back in the second half to take the game, 80-69.
The road continues to be a thorn in the side of the Warriors, as they move to 0-6 in contests away from Warrior Arena. Overall, Jessup sits at 7-7 on the season, with a 4-4 record in PacWest action.
Jessup saw two players finish the game with 13 points to lead the way.
Aydan Janssan concluded the contest with 13 points, shooting 50 percent from the field, to pair with seven rebounds.
Ja'Maris Blackmon also dropped a baker's dozen, adding three boards and a pair of assists.
Troy Crighton contributed 12 points in 23 minutes off the bench.
Anthony Enoh finished with ten.
The Warriors took a ten-point lead into the intermission, 42-32, thanks to a 50 percent (16-for-32) shooting performance from the field. The lead reached as many as 14, coming on a Blackmon three with five minutes remaining in the half.
Jessup's advantage dissolved in the second half, with the Penguins outscoring the Warriors by 21 in the closing 20 minutes. Jessup's shooting performance saw a dip to 30 percent to end the game.
Dominican was led by four players in double-figures. Darius Best led with 23 points.
The Warriors will now get six days off before returning to action, as they will play the second of three straight in the Bay Area on Saturday, January 18, when they visit Academy of Art. The road trip ends with a visit to Menlo on January 23.
Jessup will be back home on January 25 when they welcome Azusa Pacific to Rocklin for Old Town Pizza Day.
