RENO, Nev. – Jessup's first meet of 2025 has come to a conclusion, following the Warriors making their second of four trips to Reno. Competing this week in the Silver and Blue Invitational, it was another successful two days for the Warriors as they continued their first Division II indoor season.
"We knew going into this meet, with only having three days of practice coming back from Christmas break, that we were going to have to shake off a little rust," said head coach
Jeff Magley. "We knew that was going to play a little bit of a factor, but we were still excited to get the team up here and compete indoors."
Jessup entered the weekend having not competed since the Silver State Invitational on December 7.
"We're continuing to learn the nuances and the differences between running on a 200-meter bike track and a 400-meter track," added Magley. Different from previous seasons, all NCAA meets during indoor season must be competed indoors.
A big day was had by
Jocelyn Pedretti, who continues the streak of Pedretti sisters to compete for the Warriors. Pedretti posted PRs in both the 200m and 60m hurdles, improving both by a half second from her times in December. Her time of 9.69 in the 60m hurdle puts her third on the Jessup all-time list.
Distance runner
Hailey Hopkins also had a big day as she eclipsed her PR in the 1,000m with a time of 3:44.67. It's an 11-second improvement from her previous best, which was set in 2022.
Magley also singled out freshman
Aurora Osburn, who set PRs in the 400m (1:12.02) and long jump (4.79m) in her second collegiate meet. Her mark in the long jump moves her to sixth all-time.
