05/09/25

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Julia Pisenti capped off a dominating season in the discus on Thursday with an NCCAA National Championship, and on day three of the championship meet, Pisenti returned for more. As one of six podium finishes on Friday, Pisenti becomes a two-time national champion as she claimed victory in the javelin on Friday.

Pisenti threw a top mark of 40.23m on Friday, almost five full meters ahead of the national runner-up. Her national title is the third of the week for the Warriors at the NCCAA National Championship. She added a win in the discus on Thursday to go with Jocelyn Pedretti's national title in the heptathlon.

The sophomore thrower had one more event to compete in after the javelin, the shot put. With a throw of 12.51m, Pisenti earned a spot on the podium as an All-American with a third-place finish.

Pisenti's three podium finishes earned her a fourth honor as she was selected the 2025 Field Athlete of the Meet.

There were five podium finishes for the Warriors on the final day of competition. Joining Pisenti on the women's side was sprinter Erica Waseq, who placed third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.49.

All-American honors go to the athletes who finish in the top three in their respective events.

Sprinter Gianni Miles came into Friday with two shots at a podium finish. His first event, the 100m dash, was a photo finish as Miles' Jessup record record-setting time of 10.36 finished 0.07 behind Lamarr Williams of Bethel.

Miles returned to the track in the 200m later in the day and again set a Jessup record with a time of 21.14. This time, he finished 0.21 seconds behind Williams, as Miles earned two All-American finishes as national runner-up in his events.

The sixth podium finish of the day went to senior Jeremiah Price who placed second in the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 55.60 seconds. Price had a busy day on Friday as he also competed in the triple jump and 4x400m relay.

Jessup almost grabbed a seventh podium finish in the 4x400m relay as the team of Miles, Price, Chris Hackney, and Antonio Leal came in fourth.

Team scoring saw the Jessup men place ninth in the field. The Jessup women placed fifth.

The three-day meet saw All-American honors go to Miles, Pedretti, Pisenti, Price, Waseq, and Derek Brown, as the Warriors leave South Carolina with nine All-American finishes and three National Championships.

Jessup's national championship wins make it five for the program all-time. Jessup University has won 13 national titles in school history.
