ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Warriors of Jessup University took on Azusa Pacific University in a Saturday afternoon matchup on Horton Court. The day ended in a loss for the Warriors as the Cougars claimed victory in a final score of 77-56.
This marks the fourth time Jessup has taken on Azusa Pacific and remains winless when playing the Cougars. This loss to the first place in the PacWest conference APU now makes the Warriors 8-11 overall and 3-8 in conference play.Â
Jessup returned home for Old Town Pizza Day from a showdown in the Bay Area with Menlo College. This marks their second consecutive loss this week.Â
The competition began with the Warriors ahead of the Cougars in the first quarter, 19-17. Azusa pulled ahead of Jessup in the second quarter going into the break and commanded the lead for the remainder of the game.Â
Amayah Kirkman commanded the scoring for the visiting Cougars with 25 points, going 9-for-15 on the floor, 7-for-9 from the free-throw line, and nine rebounds.Â
Senior Kayla Vieira led the Warriors' scoring with 9 points in 21 minutes. On the defensive end, Jacklyn Kulow led Jessup's rebounding effort with seven rebounds on the day.Â
The Warriors look to turn things around as they travel to Fresno on January 30th for a road trip to take on Fresno Pacific University.Â
