REDDING, Calif. – A three-match road trip to begin the first season in Jessup Men's Volleyball history came to a conclusion on Friday night, with the Warriors visiting Simpson. A four-set bout saw the Warriors pick up their second win as they took down the Red Hawks 3-1.
Jessup began this series of road matches on January 20 with the historic first contest in program history, a 3-1 victory at Pacific Union. The Warriors then continued the season last week at Menlo.
Junior
Jan Lopuch once again led the Jessup attack, finishing Friday night with 17 kills to match his season-best. Lopuch did so on a .412 hitting performance, adding nine digs and three blocks as well.
Freshman
Owen Henning added 13 kills on a .500 performance, with
Logan Marks finishing next with 11 kills and a team-high 12 digs.
Jessup claimed victory in the opening set, 25-19, and then followed it up with a 25-19 victory in the second to place them one away from a sweep. Simpson had other plans, however, as a 25-22 victory for the Red Hawks saw the match push onward to the fourth set.
Another 25-22 finish followed in the fourth, this time from the Warriors, as match point came on a kill from
Chase Schwab.
Now 2-1 on the season, the Warriors get to look forward to something new, as history will be made next week with the first home contest in program history. Jessup will host UC Merced on February 6, the first of five home contests inside Warrior Arena this season. The following day will see a visit from Menlo.
