Gritty Comeback Leads to Jessup’s Victory Against Academy of Art

Enoh and Janssan finished the night with 22 points each; Jessup hit nine consecutive shots in the second half

ROCKLIN, Calif. – Warrior Arena has been nicknamed the 'House of Thrills' this season, and Wednesday night's victory against Academy of Art will only add to that moniker. Backed by a great shooting performance in the second half, Jessup pulled off the comeback to win, 76-74.

Jessup now sits 7-1 in home contests this year, including a perfect 4-0 clip in conference contests. Overall, Jessup is now 4-3 in PacWest play.

The big win was sparked by two players dropping 22 points for the Warriors, as Aydan Janssan and Anthony Enoh led the charge. Janssan's presence was felt early as he scored the Warriors' first seven points of the night after Art opened with nine straight points. Cayden McDaniel also added to the scoring with 16 points in reserve.

Janssan added 11 boards to his showing, making it five straight in double-figures.

Enoh's performance shined brightest in the second half, starting with two monstrous dunks to bring the packed Warrior Arena crowd to life. Enoh scored 15 of his points in the closing 20 minutes, connecting on 5-of-7 from the floor along the way.

"I have nothing to say; it was just the flow of the game," laughed Enoh when asked about his two dunks.

"This was a good win for us. Hopefully, it will carry some momentum as we go on the road," added Enoh.

The Warriors got in a hole early, as Art got off to a 23-7 run. Jessup turned the momentum with a 13-0 run that extended into a 17-2 streak, drawing them within one point. Another run came in the second half when the Warriors scored nine straight.

A Ja'Maris Blackmon layup with 4:35 remaining in the game put Jessup on top for the first time, and they would not trail again, as the lead hit as much as seven. During this final stretch, the Warriors connected on nine straight attempts from the field.

Jessup finished the night shooting 44 percent from the field thanks in large part to a 57 percent clip in the closing 20 minutes.

Academy of Art was led by Isaiah Williams with a 19-point performance. Donovan Vickers and Quintin Metcalf each added 18.

The season continues on Saturday, with the Warriors set to visit Dominican for the first of three straight in the Bay Area. Saturday's battle is set for 3:30 p.m. and can be streamed for a fee on the PacWest Network. Jessup will be back home on January 25 to host Azusa Pacific.
