SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Jessup saw a hot start cooled by a dominant second half from Dominican University in a matinee road contest, as the Warriors ultimately fell 76–64 at the Conlan Center on Thursday afternoon.
The Warriors are still seeking their first PacWest victory, now sitting at 0–4 in conference play and 2–8 overall. Despite leading by 14 points after the first quarter, the Warriors were unable to withstand a 50-point second-half surge from the Penguins.
Jessup came out of the gates firing, putting together one of its most efficient opening quarters of the season. The Warriors shot a blistering 64.3 percent from the floor in the first ten minutes, led by Andheya Aurelio and Amari Guiton. By the end of the first period, Jessup held a commanding 23–9 lead.
The second quarter saw the Penguins begin to chip away at the deficit, outscoring the Warriors 17–16. Jessup managed to maintain a double-digit cushion for much of the frame and entered the halftime break leading 39–26.
However, the momentum shifted dramatically in the third quarter. Dominican found its rhythm on the offensive end, pouring in 25 points while holding Jessup to 16. The Penguins' defensive pressure began to take a toll, forcing turnovers and limiting the Warriors' transition opportunities. By the start of the final period, the Penguins had narrowed the gap to just four points.
The fourth quarter mirrored the third, with Dominican continuing its offensive onslaught. The Penguins outscored the Warriors 25–9 in the final ten minutes to secure the comeback victory.
Amari Guiton led the Warriors with 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds. Andheya Aurelio posted nine points and six rebounds while playing a team-high 33 minutes. Raylyn Fergerson contributed eight points and five rebounds in the effort, while Giselle Dogan added seven points and four assists.
The Warriors will enjoy Christmas break before returning to their home court for their next contest, a matchup with the Vulcans of the University of Hawaii at Hilo on January 3.
