ROCKLIN, Calif. – Having lost nine in a row, Jessup returned to the friendly confines of Warrior Arena to begin the final stretch of the 2024-25 season. A little home cooking was all the Warriors needed, as in their first game back from Hawaii, Jessup got back on track, taking down Hawaii Pacific 73-68.
Â
The Warriors are now 8-3 in games played on Horton Court. They will play their final three games inside their home gym.
Â
It was a collective effort for Jessup in the win, as three Warriors closed in the night in double-figures. Leading with 12 points each was the duo of
Ja'Maris Blackmon and
Wyatt Studer, followed by
Troy Crighton, who totaled 10 points in 25 minutes off the bench.
Â
The Warriors also got contributions from
Aydan Janssan (9) and
Cayden McDaniel (8).
Â
It was all Jessup in the first half, as a 58 percent shooting performance produced a 38-18 lead entering the intermission. But then things flipped in the second, as the Sharks stole the momentum. HPU cut the Jessup lead to as little as one on a 3-pointer with 6:51 to play, but the Warriors held on and never relinquished their lead.
Â
The loss puts the Sharks at .500 (8-8) in PacWest action.
Â
HPU was led by Joshua West with 17 points. Three other players finished the game in double-figures for the Sharks.
Â
The season now continues with three more games at home, starting with Concordia on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The Warriors will then welcome Hawaii Hilo and Fresno Pacific to Rocklin to round out the season.
Â
FPU's visit to Warrior Arena on March 1 will be Senior Day.
