LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A break in the rain allowed Jessup Tennis to conclude their Southern California trip on Saturday. With the two teams split at two sites in Los Angeles, the Warriors return to Northern California after two 7-0 losses.

For the Jessup women, their match with Cal State Los Angeles was their season opener following two attempts to start the season against Point Loma. Their match with PLNU was rained out on Thursday, and after an attempt to make it up on Saturday, court conditions would not allow the match to be played.

The Jessup men were scheduled to play Whittier on Friday, but that match was canceled due to weather as well. They returned to action against Occidental on Saturday.

Doubles action saw the Jessup men win one of their three matches, as the duo of
Vadim Francois and
Caleb Poling were victorious 7-5.
David Perez and
Diego Rodriguez saw their match extend into a tiebreaker, but an 8-6 finish put them on the losing end.

Occidental then took all six of the singles matches. Rodriguez's match reached the third set, along with
Caleb Poling, who also claimed victory in the second set thanks to a 7-5 tiebreaking win.

In the women's match, Jessup lost all three of the double's contests. The top court saw
Briana Smith and
Nia Macay team up for a 6-2 defeat. In single's action, Riley Mahoney battled to a third set in her contest, but it was a 6-0 sweep for CSULA in single's action.

The Jessup women will host Fresno Pacific on Wednesday at Sierra College, while the Jessup men will welcome Menlo to Rocklin on Saturday.
