ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – It was a family reunion of sorts on Saturday in Aliso Viejo as the Warriors squared off on a neutral court with OUAZ. Taking on a team their head coach built from the ground up, the newest start-up program came away with a 3-1 victory.

Head coach
Kyle Steele was the first head coach in OUAZ Men's Volleyball history, taking control of the program in 2017. He left the Spirit at the end of the 2024 season with ambitions to do the same in Rocklin, as he assumed the role of the first head coach in Jessup's Men's Volleyball history.

Steele's old squad gave his new team plenty of fits, as two of the four sets stretched past 25 points, but the Warriors were up for the fight.

Jessup grabbed the opening set with a 27-25 victory, doing so by winning five of the last six points. The second set was not as strenuous, as Jessup grabbed the victory with a 25-15 win, placing them a set away from their second consecutive sweep in Aliso Viejo.

OUAZ had other plans, as a 25-18 win for the Spirit pushed the match to the fourth.

The fourth set went back and forth, eventually pushing past 25 points. A kill from
Owen Henning gave Jessup a 28-27 advantage, and then a block from
Logan Marks and
Chase Schwab sealed the deal, closing the night on a 29-17 victory.

Jan Lopuch led the Warriors with 24 kills, setting a new season-high. He also matches the Jessup Volleyball record of kills in a match, matching the record set by the women's team numerous times.

Carter Depue added 16 kills.

Jessup will be back in Southern California next week for back-to-back games against Concordia. The first match is slated for Match 6 at 7 p.m.
