TURLOCK, Calif. – Another week of the outdoor season is in the books, as the Warriors visited Turlock on Saturday for the Kim Duyst Invitational. The meet was once again filled with PRs and Warriors placing first as Jessup continues to progress in their 2025 season.
Â
Windy conditions hit Turlock throughout the day, causing many of the times posted to not be wind-legal. For a time to be record qualifying the wind must be 2.0 or less, and to be national qualifying, the wind must be 4.0 or less.
Â
One of those times affected by the wind came from
Gianni Miles in the men's 100m. Miles won the event with a time of 10.39, doing so with the wind registering 3.0.
Â
"If it was wind-legal, it would have smashed the school record," said head coach
Jeff Magley on Miles' time. "It's the number two fastest time in the nation as of tonight and by far the fastest time in the PacWest."
Â
The 4x100m relay was also a highlight moment on the day. In the women's race, Jessup posted a time of 51.50, a season-best for them. The men's team posted a time of 42.45, the second-fastest time in program history.
Â
In the 100m hurdle,
Erica Waseq came out with a time of 14.85, beating her season-best by more than a second.
Â
Julia Pisenti continued where she had left off a week ago, as she once again claimed double victory on Saturday. Pisenti's mark of 46.46m was 3.5m further than second place, and in the shot put, she finished with a top mark of 12.97m.
Jocelyn Pedretti placed third in the shot put at 11.57m.
Â
Pedretti also added a fifth-place finish in the discus, as her mark of 35.90m moves her to fourth all-time in program history. Derek Brown also etched his name in the record book in the throws, moving to third in the discus with a mark of 40.47m.
Â
Jessup will take next weekend off before resuming the outdoor season on March 14 with day one of the Aggie Open in Davis.
