SEASIDE, Calif. – Jessup's two-day break from the PacWest has come to an end, as a short series in Seaside wrapped up on Saturday afternoon. On a day where the Warriors managed just three hits, a split with CSUMB was not to be as Jessup leaves with a 5-1 loss.
The Warriors are now 15-6 in their first Division II season, with all 21 games being against Division II opponents.
Jessup's lone run came in the top of the third thanks to an RBI single from
Nick Poss that leveled the score at one. Monterey Bay countered with a run in the fifth, two in the seventh, and an insurance run in the eighth to capture the series.
CSUMB's big blow was their seventh-inning runs as they came on a two-run home run to right field.
The Warriors used seven pitchers in the loss. Left-hander
Loren Iwata earned the start and allowed one run over two innings. Scoreless innings out of the bullpen were recorded by
Tyler Lamperti,
Evan Williams, and
Ryan Stone.
Eric Vasser is tagged with the loss after allowing one run in his lone inning in relief.
The Warriors will return to the PacWest this week as they welcome Hawaii Pacific to McBean Park. The four-game series begins with a night game on Wednesday, as first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
