ROCKLIN, Calif. – A break in the rain finally allowed Jessup and Westmont to compete against one another as the two sides met up at Sierra College on Sunday. On a sunny Rocklin afternoon, the victory went to the Warriors of Santa Barbara, who handed Jessup a 7-0 defeat.
Â
Jessup moves to 0-8 on the season as they will search for their first win next week.
Â
Sunday's match came after a series of rainouts that postposed the two Warriors from meeting up. The two sides were scheduled to play in Santa Barbara last week, but rain washed that one away. Matches were also scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, with both being canceled after storms hit the Sacramento area.
Â
Westmont opened the day with a point in doubles action as they were victorious in the first and second positions. The combo of
Clark Chen and
Michael Marci saw their doubles bout go unfinished.
Â
Singles action then saw Westmont sweep the board, taking all six points in straight sets.
Â
Jessup will be back in action on Tuesday when they head to Fresno for a series of matches. The Warriors will see Colorado Mesa on Tuesday and will then face off with MSU Denver on Thursday.
