REDDING, Calif. – Night two of Simpson week saw the Warriors pay a visit to Redding for the second time this season. In the second meeting with Simpson this week, another sweep occurred, but this time, it was the Red Hawks who came out on the winning side.
Jessup began the week with a sweep of Simpson on Tuesday inside Warrior Arena. Sunday's loss puts the Warriors at 7-6 on the season.
Carter Depue led the offensive attack on Sunday as he totaled 15 kills, one shy of his season high. Depue did so on a .367 hitting performance, adding four digs and a pair of blocks.
Owen Henning finished behind him with nine kills.
Each set was close throughout, beginning with the first as the Red Hawks escaped with a 25-20 win. The Warriors drew closer in the second, eventually falling by the final of 25-22. Simpson then took the third with a 25-21 victory.
Simpson's victory is their first against Jessup. The Warriors entered Sunday night 2-0 against the Red Hawks, with Jessup having won six of the seven sets they have played against Simpson. Another meeting with Simpson will be on April 2 inside Warrior Arena.
Jessup will be back home on Thursday when they welcome Pacific Union to Rocklin. The Warriors previously beat Pacific Union in the season opener, which was also the first match in program history.
