ROCKLIN, Calif. – The top discus mark in the nation is being recognized by the PacWest this week as Jessup's
Julia Pisenti has been named the conference Field Athlete of the Week. Pisenti was one of four record-breaking performances over the weekend as Jessup competed in Sacramento.
Â
Pisenti, a sophomore, is the reigning NAIA runner-up in the discus. With Jessup now in their first season of Division II competition, she continues to lead the nation in discus. While she will not be eligible to compete in the NCAA National Championship, she does lead the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) in three events that she will be postseason eligible in.
Â
One of those events, the discus, saw Pisenti break her own Jessup record over the weekend with a throw of 50.83m. She placed fourth in the event, finishing behind Division I athletes from Fresno State, Cal, and Stanford.
Â
Pisenti also competed in the shot put and javelin, placing top-ten in both events.
Â
The sophomore thrower currently leads the NCCAA in discus (50.83m), javelin (40.27m), and shot put (13.06m). She is first in the PacWest in the discus and sits in the top three in the two other events.
Â
Pisenti was the GSAC Champion in the discus, shot put, and triple jump a year ago, leading to GSAC Field Athlete of the Year honors.
Â
Jessup will continue the outdoor season this weekend with a visit to Clovis for Fresno State's West Coast Relays. The 2025 PacWest Championship is scheduled for April 25 – 26.
