CHICO, Calif. – With the season winding down, Jessup visited Chico this weekend for the Chico State Invitational. The meet saw three new records be set as the Warriors continue to improve leading up to their PacWest Championship debut.
Â
Erica Waseq had one of the big highlights this weekend. Waseq began competing in the long jump this season and she is already etching her name at the top of the record book. Waseq's mark of 5.48m is the new Jessup record in the event. Her mark was .54m further than the mark she set a week ago in her collegiate long jump debut.
Â
Derek Brown also had a record-breaking performance. Brown's top throw of 42.15m breaks the record he set earlier this season at the West Coast Relays.
Â
A third record came in the men's 4x400m relay. The team of
Chris Hackney,
Gianni Miles,
Logan Scammell, and
Antonio Leal posted a time of 3:21.78 to put them at the top of the Jessup record book.
Â
Hackney also added a PR performance in the 400m. Hackney moves to fourth in school history.
Karsyn Leikauf posted a PR in the 100m hurdles, and
Hope Garten set a PR in the 100m.
Hailey Hopkins added a PR in the 800m.
Â
Track will be back in action next weekend when they head to San Francisco for the Johnny Mathis Invitational. The PacWest Championship will begin on April 25.
