SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The finale of the 2025 regular season saw the Warriors return to the scenic views of Carroll B. Land Stadium for a double-dip with the Point Loma Sea Lions. With the Warriors taking a lead into the last of the ninth in game one, Point Loma flipped the momentum switch as their comeback efforts led to a sweep of the day.
Jessup led 4-2 entering the ninth inning of game one. Right-hander Nolan Thebiay got the call to shut the door but the Sea Lions demanded it stay open. PLNU tagged Thebiay and the Warriors for five runs in the closing frame with the final blow being a three-run, two out walk off home run.
Freshman Loren Iwata started the opener and gave the Sea Lions fits during his 5.1 innings of work. Iwata allowed one run on six hits, walking three and striking out one. Joey Miller also pitched, as he allowed two runs across 2.2 innings in relief.
The Warriors plated their first run of the game in the first inning when Tony Otis' sacrifice fly drove in Drew Andrews. The second run came in the third when a throwing error allowed Gabe Harris to score. Dominic Ott added to the third inning rally with a sac fly to plate Otis.
Otis added another RBI with a single in the seventh to again score Andrews.
Head coach Trevor Paine turned the ball to left-hander Tyler Lamperti in the finale as the Warriors set their focus on a split. Jessup gave Lamperti a run in the first when Andrews scored on a fielding error.
Lamperti lasted 2.1 innings in his start as he allowed five runs across five hits. Caleb Markwith was the first to enter out of the bullpen and he logged 2.2 shutout innings.
The big frame for the Sea Lions came in the sixth when they tacked on four runs. Three pitchers were called on to get the three outs as Eric Vasser, Jason Riviello, and Chris Albee all had their turn on the mound.
Point Loma held the Warriors to four hits to close out the series as a 9-1 finish sent Jessup back to Northern California.
The Warriors end their first Division II regular season with a 31-19 record. They finished 28-16 in the PacWest, placing them third in the standings.
Jessup's season will continue in two weeks as they draw the west region's bid in the NCCAA World Series. Postseason action runs May 17-21 from Kansas City.
