ROCKLIN, Calif. – A giant leap forward was taken in 2024 as women's soccer kicked off their first season of Division II soccer. With a new slate of conference foes to battle against, the Warriors began the foundation of the next era for the program.
The 2024 season ended with a 4-12-2 campaign for the Warriors. Two of those victories came in the first PacWest season in Jessup history as the Warriors finished 2-8-1.
Jessup's first victory in the 2024 season came against an old NAIA foe when the Warriors welcomed Cal Maritime to Rocklin. The Warriors, who entered the match scoreless in two matches to start the season, did wonders for their goal differential as they put forth an 11-0 rout of the Keelhaulers.
Win number two came 12 days later when the Warriors traveled to San Francisco for a non-conference bout against Academy of Art. The early look at a PacWest opponent resulted in a 2-1 finish for the Warriors, giving the team their first win against a Division II opponent.
Jessup beat Academy of Art once again on October 30, a 2-0 finish that counted towards conference records.
One of the highlights of the PacWest schedule is the opportunity to visit Hawaii, and in 2024, Jessup visited all three of the Hawaiian schools. The trip began at Chaminade in Honolulu on October 7 and wrapped up at Hawaii Hilo on October 12.
Mixed in the middle of the Hawaii trip was a match with Hawaii Pacific on October 9. A defensive battle saw just one goal cross the goal line as a 24th-minute strike for the Warriors gave them a 1-0 win to end their time on Oahu.
The PacWest's three Hawaii schools will come to Rocklin in 2025.
Goodbyes were said to the senior class of the 2024 Warriors on November 2 when 12 Warriors were recognized during Senior Day. The match with Concordia was followed by a midweek meeting with Azusa Pacific to round out the 2024 schedule on November 7.
Senior
Kaylee Gillespie, the all-time goal scorer in program history, netted six in her final Jessup season. Gillespie added a trio of assists as she garnered Second-Team PacWest All-Conference honors. Gillespie began her career in 2021 as the GSAC Freshman of the Year and wrapped it up as a four-time all-conference selection.
Also earning postseason honors was senior
Sophia Patterson. The defender appeared in 16 matches with 11 starts and was named a Second-Team NCCAA All-American. Head coach
Amsalu Fantahun earned NCCAA West Region Coach of the Year.
