A Challenging Slate Sets the Stage for a Historic Season

Men’s Basketball releases 2025-26 schedule with local dual to tip it off

08/15/25

ROCKLIN, CA - Get ready for an electrifying season as the men's basketball team prepares for a landmark 2025-26 campaign. This year marks a significant milestone as the program becomes fully post-season eligible for NCAA Division II play, setting the stage for an exciting new chapter. The schedule is a dynamic mix of opportunities, from challenging non-conference matchups to the thrill of a full PacWest conference slate.

The team opens the year with an opportunity to showcase their talent on a big stage, facing off against NCAA Division I Sacramento State on November 7. This marquee exhibition game is a perfect way to kick off the season and gain valuable experience. The early schedule also features a pair of road games in Hayward, CA, against Stanislaus and East Bay, providing a chance to bond as a team and find their rhythm on the road.

The team then returns to the friendly confines of their Rocklin, CA, home arena for a crucial four-game home stand. From November 21 to December 4, the team will enjoy the support of their home crowd as they face Monterey Bay, Humboldt State, Cal Maritime, and Point Loma. This stretch will be vital for building momentum and establishing a strong home-court presence before the rigors of the PacWest conference schedule begin.

The heart of the season presents a formidable test of endurance and travel. After a single home game on January 5, the team heads back on the road for a three-game away series through Southern California, facing Concordia Irvine, Biola, and Westmont between January 29 and February 2. The travel doesn't stop there. The schedule's most significant challenge awaits in February with a demanding trip to Hawaii. Over six days, the team will navigate the long flight and time zone changes to play three games against Hawaii Hilo, Chaminade, and Hawaii Pacific.

The season culminates with a strong push for a conference tournament berth, with the team returning home to host Vanguard and Chaminade. This final home stand provides a perfect opportunity to build momentum before the PacWest Tournament kicks off from March 5-7, 2026

Head Coach Mark Darnall is enthusiastic about the journey ahead. "I'm thrilled about our schedule for our first year as a fully post-season eligible NCAA Division II program," said Coach Darnall. "It's a diverse and demanding slate that will push our program in our second year of NCAA Division II. We'll open the year with an incredible opportunity to face NCAA Division I Sacramento State, which is great exposure for Jessup in our local community. From there, we'll battle four tough non-conference Division II opponents, and two non-NCAA opponents, before diving into a full and competitive PacWest schedule. We're ready and excited for the challenges ahead this season."
