Box Score ARCATA, Calif. — The Jessup Warriors men's soccer team kicked off their 2025-26 season with a hard-fought 0-0 draw against the Cal Poly Humboldt Lumberjacks on Thursday at College Creek Field. The match, which saw both teams earn their first tie of the season (0-0-1), was a tightly contested affair from start to finish.
The Warriors' offense was active, taking 11 total shots, with five of them on target. This included seven shots in the second half, as they looked to break the scoreless tie. Leading the attack was
Mateo Barth, who had a team-high three shots, with two on target. Forward
Diego Lazo also registered three shots, with one on target. Jonathan Juarez,
Nicholas Hernandez, and Paris Ruiz each had a shot on target.
On the defensive end, goalkeeper
Alonso Ruiz was a key factor in the clean sheet, making two saves during the match. The Warriors' defense was solid, holding the Lumberjacks to nine shots and just two shots on target throughout the 90 minutes.
"Some real positive moments today," said the coach. "I really liked our work level. I really liked our creativity in the middle of the park. Hoping next time out we can finish a couple of opportunities. But it is tough to win on the road. Looking forward to our next match."
