Warriors Wrap Up New Jersey Trip

NEWARK, N.J. – The Jessup University men's volleyball (0-3, 0-0 MPSF) team continued their East Coast road trip on Saturday afternoon, facing off against New Jersey Institute of Technology (2-5, 0-0 EIVA) at the Joel & Diane Bloom Wellness & Events Center, 0-3 (22-25, 16-25, 22-25).

Despite a highly efficient offensive showing, the Warriors were unable to overcome the Highlanders, falling in straight sets. Jessup posted an impressive .321 team hitting percentage for the match, but NJIT's .421 clip and strong presence at the net ultimately tipped the scales in favor of the hosts.

The opening frame set the tone for a competitive afternoon. Jessup matched NJIT point-for-point early on, fueled by the play of Carter Depue. Late in the set, a kill by Clement Osahon Jr. pulled Jessup within two at 24-22, but the Highlanders were able to secure the final point to take a 1-0 lead.

NJIT found their rhythm in the second set, hitting a blistering .500 as a team. The Warriors struggled to slow down the Highlanders' attack, specifically Andre Aleixo, who finished with a match-high 16 kills.

Refusing to go quietly, Jessup stormed back in the third set with their most efficient offensive performance of the day (.414). The Warriors battled to a two point deficit late in the third and final set. However, NJIT closed out the match with their three point advantage.

Carter Depue led the Jessup attack with 13 kills on 25 swings, hitting .480. Jan Lopuch added eight kills, while Clement Osahon Jr. contributed six kills and a team-high four blocks.

Setter Colin Marks orchestrated the offense with 33 assists while adding five digs and two kills of his own. On the defensive end, Logan Marks joined Depue and Colin Marks with five digs apiece.

The Warriors will look to build on their offensive efficiency as they stay on the East Coast for their next two matchups against Sacred Heart University. Their first matchup will be on Monday, January 19th at 4:00 PM from William H. Pitt Center.
