ROCKLIN, Calif. - It was a valiant effort for the Jessup women's volleyball team on Tuesday night at Horton Court as they won the second set against Hawaii Pacific, but were unable to carry the momentum for the rest of the match as the Warriors fell in four sets to the Sharks (25-18, 22-25, 25-22, 25-18).

The Warriors started strong in the first set up 6-0 before the Sharks answered back with strong performances by Alohalani Chun and Chayse Hoon. The second set was the polar opposite as it was the Sharks going up 5-0 early before Jessup answered with great play by Mia Rivera and Jayden Jones. Rivera led the Warriors with eight kills on the night along with three aces and five blocks.

Hawaii Pacific totaled 50 kills in the match compared to just 33 for Jessup. Sophia Cooper led the way with 11 kills for the Sharks while Ella Schoene had a triple-double with 10 kills, 12 digs and 12 blocks. The one area the Warriors were the strongest was serving as they totaled 14 aces with four from Kjersti (KJ) Jacobson, and three each by Rivera and Jones. Jacobson, Jones and Lily Smith all finished in double figures for digs.

The loss drops Jessup to 4-16 on the season and they will be back at Warrior Arena on Thursday as they face University of Hawaii-Hilo at 3 p.m.
