Warriors Keep Rolling with Thursday Night Sweep Over Pacific Union

ROCKLIN, Calif. – Jessup University men's volleyball (5-4, 0-1 MPSF) kept their home momentum rolling on Thursday night, putting away Pacific Union College (5-3) in a commanding sweep at Warrior Arena, 3-0, (25-21, 25-13, 25-14).

Fresh off a dominant showing earlier in the week against Hope International, the Warriors utilized a relentless attack and stifling defense to assert control early and never looked back against the visiting Pioneers.

The opening set saw the Warriors quickly establish their rhythm. An early kill from Clement Osahon Jr. sparked the offense, while back-to-back service aces from Colin Marks set the tone for the home team, 11-8. The Pioneers competed in the first coming within two late. A kill from Jacob Knudsen put the Warriors up four, 23-19. Jessup profited off of errors from Pacific Union and took the first set, 25-21.

In the second set, Jessup asserted their control early on and did not allow Pacific Union a lead. A strong kill from Owen Henning, assisted by Colin Marks, put the Warriors ahead on the second point as the home team did not look back, 2-1. The Pioneers attempted to creep back in but a Jonas Müller strike put the Warriors up six, 16-10. Jessup went on an incredible six point unanswered run to end the second set. Knudsen, Jan Lopuch and Osahon Jr provided relentless kills to put away Pacific Union in the middle set, 25-13.

It was all Jessup in the third and final set as they immediately went up eight, 10-2. The Warriors began the third set as they finished the second. Jessup opened with five unanswered points as they took advantage of multiple Pioneers errors and kills from Rayphe Froese and Riley Petesch. The Warriors won their second consecutive set sweep against the Pioneers, 25-14.

Jonas Müller led the Warriors in kills as he recorded ten on 19 attempts and aided at the net with three block assists. Colin Marks was instrumental in the office as he provided 24 assists, three digs and three service assists. Clement Osahon Jr was a force at the net with four block assists, a block solo and five kills. Head Coach Kyle Steele spoke about the overall team win, "It is good to get a sweep tonight and see our bench guys step up to bring the energy." He continued, "It was great to see the team take over the second set and I think that carried over into the third set."

The Warriors will look to carry this winning momentum as they hit the road for their next matchup against Simpson University. The team will travel to Redding on Sunday, February 22nd for first serve at 6:00 PM.
