TURLOCK, Calif. – Jessup women's tennis (0-2, 0-2 PacWest) hit the road for a Saturday afternoon showdown with Stanislaus State (1-0), 7-0.
Following their season opener in Roseville just 24 hours prior, the Warriors returned to the court for their first road appearance. The match began with doubles play where two Jessup pairs competed. At the No. 1 position, the duo of Giselli Reschke and Briana Smith put up a strong fight against Stanislaus State. Reschke and Smith pushed their opponents but ultimately fell 6-4 in a tightly contested set. At No. 2, Rylie Maloney's pair fell to the Stan State Warriors. With a forfeit at No. 3, Stanislaus State secured the doubles point.
Moving into singles, at the No. 1 spot. Freshman Briana Smith dropped the team's first showing. In other singles action, Giselli Reschke competed at the No. 2 position, while Rylie Maloney battled at No. 3, falling 6-2, 6-2. Senior Danielle Akabane took the court at No. 4. Due to a short roster, the Warriors were forced to forfeit the No. 6 singles slot.
The Warriors will now return home to regroup before their next slate of matches. Jessup is scheduled to be back in action on Friday, February 13, when they host Fresno City College. First serve is set for 11:00 AM at the Johnson Ranch Sports Club North in Roseville, CA.
