LONG BEACH, Calif. — Facing one of the premier programs in the country, Jessup traveled to the LBS Financial Credit Union Pyramid on Thursday night to take on Long Beach State. Despite flashes of offensive efficiency, the Warriors were unable to overcome the high-powered Beach attack, falling in straight sets with scores of 13-25, 18-25, and 16-25. 

The loss moves Jessup to a 6-8 overall record on the season.

Jonas Mueller and Clement Osahon Jr. provided the early offense for Jessup, but the Warriors struggled to contain a Long Beach block that recorded 17 assisted blocks throughout the match. The Beach took the opener 25-13 after a clinical performance at the net.

The Warriors showed great resilience in the second set, battling through six ties and four lead changes. Jessup found success through Jan Lopuch and Jacob Knudsen at the pins, keeping the score even midway through the frame. However, with the score tied at 14-14, Long Beach State utilized its depth to regain control, eventually sealing the set 25-18.

In the final frame, Jessup stayed within striking distance early and trailed just 13-14 after a kill by Owen Henning. However, the hosting squad would record 19 kills and close out the match with a 25-16 victory.

Jonas Mueller led the Jessup attack with six kills, while Jan Lopuch followed with four. Colin Marks orchestrated the offense with 16 assists and led the defensive effort with four digs.

The Warriors will now look to regroup as they continue their road swing and run it back with Long Beach tomorrow night at 7:00 PM.
