NORTHRIDGE, Calif. — The Warriors displayed a gritty performance on the road Thursday night, taking the opening set before eventually falling to the CSUN Matadors in four sets (25-23, 20-25, 16-25, 23-25) at Premier America Credit Union Arena.
The Warriors now sit at 6-10 on the season as they look to bounce back in their next conference matchup.
Jonas Mueller proved to be a force at the net, fueled by the playmaking of Colin Marks, as Jessup edged out the Matadors 25-23 to claim the 1-0 match lead. Mueller finished the night with a team-high 20 kills while Colin Marks logged 42 assists and 7 digs in the losing effort.
CSUN managed to find their rhythm in the second and third frames. Despite the shift in momentum, Jessup refused to go quietly in the fourth set. The Warriors pushed the Matadors to the brink, behind double-digit scoring from Jan Lopuch, who recorded 10 kills and two service aces, and a strong middle presence from Clement Osahon Jr., who added eight kills and three blocks.
Defensively, Logan Marks led the back-row effort for the Warriors with 10 digs, while the team combined for five total blocks. Lopuch is currently leading the Warriors in kills with 144 on the season so far. Mueller is right behind the senior on the Warrior leaderboard with 103.Â
The Warriors will have a quick turn around and look to get themselves back in the win column as they are set to face the University of Southern California tomorrow night at 7:00 PM.Â
