Tinoco Earns PacWest Player of the Week Following Explosive Hawaii Performance

03/09/26

ROCKLIN, Calif. — Jessup softball junior infielder Aaliyah Tinoco has been named the PacWest Softball Player of the Week after an absolute tear at the plate that helped fuel a successful end to their Hawaii trip.

Tinoco was the undeniable offensive engine for the Warriors, leading the team to a dominant 6-2 record against Hawaii Pacific University and Chaminade University from March 3rd through March 7th. Over the eight-game stretch, she posted a blistering .523 batting average, tallying 2 triples, 10 RBIs, and 11 runs scored while showcasing a lethal combination of power, elite plate discipline, and clutch situational hitting.

She sparked the Warriors' offense in massive blowout wins, most notably delivering a perfect 4-for-4 performance with three RBIs and two runs scored in a 15-2 run-rule victory over HPU.

Just two days later, she put on a power clinic against Chaminade. In a 12-1 victory over the Silverswords, Tinoco went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored, highlighted by roping two triples in a single game.

While her extra-base hits stole the show, her most impressive trait during the road trip might have been her unshakable patience. When pitchers refused to give her anything to hit, Tinoco happily took her free bases.

In a 14-5 bounce-back win over HPU, she officially went 0-for-1 but drew a staggering four walks, stole a base, and scored twice. Later in the week against Chaminade, she reached base safely in all four plate appearances without recording an out, hitting a double, drawing two walks, and taking a hit-by-pitch to keep the lineup moving.

Tinoco proved she could produce in tight, defensive battles just as well as she could in run-rule blowouts. In the gritty 2-0 series finale against Chaminade, the Warriors desperately needed someone to manufacture runs. Tinoco answered the call, she crossed the plate for the first run of the game in the fourth and later recorded an RBI to tally an insurance run.

"This is a great accomplishment for Tinoco, she has been working hard on her time in the box looking for consistency and opportunity to maximize each at bat, and that she did," said Head Coach Brie Campbell. "Her leadership offensively was a spark in the lineup this week and I can't wait for it to continue throughout the season."

The Warriors will be back in action this weekend for more PacWest Conference play. Jessup will host Vanguard University on March 13th for a double header starting at 3:00 PM.
