ROCKLIN, Calif. - Jessup softball standout Evangelina Chavarria has been named the PacWest Softball Player of the Week after an absolute tear at the plate, helping the Warriors clinch a crucial doubleheader sweep over Dominican University of California.

Chavarria was the undeniable engine for the Warriors, leading the team to 10-2 and 8-5 victories on April 25th. Over the two-game stretch, she posted a blistering .857 batting average (6-for-7), tallying two doubles, a staggering 8 RBIs, and a run scored, while showcasing a lethal combination of power and clutch situational hitting.

She sparked the Warriors' offense in a massive blowout win in game one, most notably delivering a perfect 3-for-3 performance with seven RBIs in a 10-2 run-rule victory over the Penguins. Chavarria wasted no time getting to work, lacing a two-run single in the first inning, adding another two-run single in the second, and blowing the game wide open with a bases-clearing, three-run double in the third.

Just a few hours later, she proved her value wasn't limited to the batter's box. In the 8-5 victory, Chavarria earned the complete-game win in the circle. She tossed all seven innings, striking out three batters to secure the sweep. She also continued her offensive dominance during the nightcap, going 3-for-4 at the plate and driving an RBI double to right-center in the first inning to set the tone early.

With the sweep secured, Chavarria and the Warriors will look to carry this momentum forward as they prepare for the PacWest Championships. Jessup will make the trip to La Mirada for the three-day tournament on May 5-7th for postseason play.
