NIPTON, Nev. - The Warriors continued their season on the course this week traveling to The Battle at Primm hosted by Grand View University, University of Victoria and Oklahoma City where out of the 18-team lineup, the Warriors saw competition from 9 nationally ranked opponents, including No. 1 in the country Oklahoma City.
Continued grit and grind were shown by the Warriors as the struggled out the gate with a first round score of 303, but bounced back in a second-round finish of 283. Joining Jessup were conference foes (23) The Master's and Arizona Christian, who finished mid-pack.
Leading the Warriors out the gate was sophomore Dominic Salamone who shot an impressive 72 in the first round just two over par. Starting the second round on the day the Warriors were well in the swing of things as
Jacob Custodio hit a season-best 67, three under par as teammates
Oliver Csanyi (72) and
Tyus Goring (74) were close behind.Â
After the first day of play,
Hunter Newlin led the race after his even-par (70) in the second round and total 147 as the Warriors had a 20-stroke turnaround between rounds.
Wrapping up the final 18 holes on Tuesday, Newlin finished out 77-70-75 and Custodio 76-67-79 both finished with an overall 222, Csyani (78-72-76) and Salamone (72-77-77) tied with 226 and Goring (78-74-76) wrapping things up.
The Warriors will compete at the Desert Collegiate in Indio hosted by Corban University this week before taking a break before the GSAC Tournament on April 29-May 1.
