Game Preview: Women’s Basketball Prepare for a Duo of Games at The College of Idaho

Saturday and Sunday’s games will wrap up a road trip that consisted of five games in six days

ROCKLIN, Calif.— To say the Jessup women's basketball team has been busy would be an understatement. After playing three games against Division I opponents over three consecutive days, the Warriors have earned a day off.

While this means it's a day off of the court, the team will still be preparing for back-to-back games against The College of Idaho on Saturday and Sunday.

Head coach Hernando Planells shared his thoughts on the trip thus far as they've played a multitude of Division I teams.

"We play these games to prepare for our NAIA games and GSAC games," said Planells. "We must take the positives and grow from those."

He ended by noting how this trip has helped the team come together, saying, "it has brought us closer as a team and is helping us as we make our way towards January."

Scope of the Trip

Planells routinely emphasizes he and his team are ready to play anyone, anywhere, and anytime. This road trip is an exact replication of that mindset. In total, the trip goes over two thousand miles with games played in three states against teams at both the NCAA and NAIA level.

Of the five games the Warriors have played thus far, Jessup has played four Division I schools and one team from the NCCAA rank. Jessup will now see an NAIA opponent for the first time this season. As noted above, it will be a double-dose of basketball as these games will be played on Saturday and Sunday.

What To Know About The Yotes

College of Idaho is hungry for a win as they currently have an 0-3 record. The Yotes started their season off with a matchup against in-state foe Boise State University, losing 90-43 on December 4th.

Over the following two days, the Yotes hit the road for a pair of games against Montana Western, losing 83-51 and 72-52.

The Yotes feature a balanced scoring attack as Lexi Mitchell and Kaylee Krusemark lead them, each averaging a shade over nine PPG. Close behind them are four different players putting up at least six PPG.

A Look At The Stats

Senior Miranda Zaragoza leads the way scoring for the Warriors as she's putting up 11.4 points while pulling down 7.8 rebounds a game. Freshman Paige Winter is currently averaging 9.8 PPG to go with 4.6 RPG.

Senior guard Katie Campana has done a great job facilitating the ball as she leads the team in assists, averaging 3.2 while also doing her part on the boards with an average of 5.2 RPG.
