Women's basketball looking to make some noise at GSAC Tournament tomorrow

The Warriors finished conference play as the GSAC's 4th seed and will face 5th seed Hope International Thursday afternoon

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Jessup women's basketball team is heading back to the postseason for the second consecutive year and will begin their quest for a GSAC Tournament title this Thursday, March 5.

As the Warriors are on the bubble for an at-large bid to the national tournament, Jessup will be looking to make their first-ever GSAC Tournament Final.

But first, the Warriors (19-10, 12-6) will need to take care of their first-round matchup against fifth-seeded Hope International (19-9, 9-9) which will tip-off at 3:30 p.m. from Murchison Gym in Santa Barbara, home to regular-season champ Westmont.

This season has been one of the program's best under head coach Kurt Westendorp as the Warriors have won 19 games just one less than last season, and earned 12 conference wins one more than 2018-19.

Jessup earned national recognition finishing fourth in the GSAC as they received votes in one poll. They also were recognized by the conference with two Player of the Week awards and two All-GSAC selections.

In the Warriors' two previous matchups with Hope International Jessup went 2-0 with wins by eight in Fullerton, and 16 in Rocklin.

Jessup has consistently used a balanced attack most of the year as five different players average over 10 points per game led by junior center Miranda Zaragoza who's had 19 double-doubles and senior point guard Liz Gehweiler who lead the team in assists.
