NEWBERG, Ore. – This past weekend, members of the Jessup men's tennis program were in action at the Pacific Northwest Invitational up in Oregon. Beginning preparation for the regular season in the spring, Jessup put on a great showing to start year two of the program.
Action took place indoors, a first for the Warriors, as action occurred inside GFU's multi-use facility. The facility includes, amongst many things, six full-sized tennis courts that Jessup called home over the weekend.
Singles competition got underway on Friday, as seven Warriors took to the courts. On the day, Jessup won five of their singles matches, going 5-3 on the day. Picking up wins for the Warriors were
Tanner Sitanggang,
Isaac Graves,
Kadyn Silva,
Aidan Sauer, and
David Perez.
Saturday saw the Warriors win six more singles matches, with Jessup going 6-9 on the court. In one of the matches, it was Jessup vs. Jessup as Sitanggang took down Auer 6-1, 6-0. Earning his first singles win of the weekend on Saturday was
Sam Smith, going 2-0 on Saturday.
Doubles play saw Jessup take the court five times, with Jessup finishing 3-2 over the weekend. Silva teamed up with
Austrebeto Carlon on Friday to win 6-2. The duo was back at it with a pair of 6-2 victories on Saturday.
One more event is currently scheduled during the fall for the Warriors, the Fresno Pacific Invitational from October 21 – 22. Women's tennis will be in action this weekend for the first time at the Wolfpack Invitational in Reno.
