OAKLAND, Calif. – Men's Tennis formally began their season on Friday, visiting Holy Names University in Oakland. Looking to piece together a successful campaign in the program's second season, Jessup battled, but ultimately fell 4-3.
Double's action is where the Warriors dominated on Friday. In the three double's bouts, Jessup won two of them, taking the one point awarded for double's play.
The wins in doubles play started with the duo of
Sam Smith and
Austrebeto Carlon, as they wrapped up the first victory, 6-1. Jessup secured the double's point when the match went final in
Roger Wen and
Kadyn Silva's 6-4 victory in the first position.
Single's play saw Jessup pick up two additional points, starting with Wen who won again, taking his match in straight sets (7-5, 6-4).
Mihnea Secara (6-2, 3-6, 11-9) also recorded a victory in single's action to help his side.
HNU would win four of the six singles matches to give themselves the victory.
The Warriors return to the court tomorrow when they take on UC Davis in an exhibition. That match from Davis begins at 2:30 p.m.
