BEAUMONT, Calif. – The final round of the 2023 Vanguard Classic got underway on Wednesday, with golfers returning to Oak Valley Golf Club. With the fall schedule winding down, Jessup wraps up their final tournament on the mainland before leaving for a week in Hawaii.
Claiming victory on the men's side was Hope International, besting Embry-Riddle by three strokes. OUAZ takes home a one-stroke victory on the women's end, again edging past Embry-Riddle.
The Jessup women's team was led by a final round of 78 from
Jessica Burdick, a three-shot improvement from her round yesterday. Burdick ended the tournament in a tie for 14th.
Others in the field for the Warriors were
Alyvia Mackey (32),
Julianne Canda (T35),
Macy Anderson (37), and
Ayasha Phillips (46).
The Jessup men saw the top round of the day come from
Oscar Gutierrez as he posted 75 (+3) to close out the tournament. Gutierrez climbed five spots on the leaderboard to end the week in solo eighth position.
Matthew Shimizu (T15), Daniel Jonson (T24),
Arturo Zavala (T24),
Juan Crespo (T29), and
Rex Rollins (T32) rounded out the field.
Now, the Warriors will shift their focus to a trip across the pacific, as next on the schedule is a visit to Hawaii. The Warriors will compete in two times, both tournaments being hosted by members of the PacWest Conference.
First in Hawaii will be the HPU Shark Shootout hosted by Hawaii Pacific. Jessup will then wrap up the trip in the Dennis Rose Invitational, hosted by Hawaii Hilo.
