Jessup Wraps up First of Two Tournaments in Hawaii

The Warriors are in Hawaii for a week, playing in tournaments hosted by Hawaii Pacific and Hawaii Hilo

KAMUELA, Hawaii – The Warriors said aloha to the big island over the weekend as Jessup landed in Hawaii on Sunday to begin a week of golf. Competing twice in tournaments hosted by members of the PacWest, Jessup wrapped up their first tournament on Tuesday at the HPU Shark Shootout.

The Shark Shootout, hosted by Hawaii Pacific University, took place on Mauna Lani Golf Course in Kamuela. Jessup will remain in Kamuela for their next tournament, but it will be a different course later this week.

Jessup saw its best score on the men's side come from Daniel Johnson in the final round on Tuesday as he posted 73 to wrap up the tournament. Jessup had four scores under 80 to wrap up the tournament as Matthew Shimizu (75), Oscar Gutierrez (78), and Rex Rollins (79) all were in the field.

Juan Crespo was the fifth Jessup golfer competing in Hawaii. His low score came in the opening round.

Winning the men's tournament was the University of Texas Permian Basin, edging past Colorado Christian by eight strokes. CSU San Marcos won the women's tournament by 13 strokes over CSU East Bay.

The low round of the week in the women's action came from Alyvia Mackey, who posted 77 in the opening round on Monday. She followed that up by posting 78 on Tuesday.

Others in the field for the Jessup women included Jessica Burdick, Julianne Canda, Corina Shaw, and Macy Anderson.

Now, the Warriors shift their focus to the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate, hosted by Hawaii Hilo. The first round will begin on Friday, as action shifts to Hapuna Golf Course in Kamuela. This will be the final tournament on the fall schedule for the Warriors, as the schedule currently shows.
