Women’s Basketball Ends 2023 on a Nine-Game Win Streak

Jessup clawed back from an eight-point hole late in the third; GSAC baseball starts next week against OUAZ and Arizona Christian

REDDING, Calif. – With 2024 right around the corner, Jessup got back to the court as they wrapped up their final non-conference contest of the 23-24 campaign. Visiting Simpson to wrap up 2023, Jessup won again as they improved their win streak to nine games.

The Warriors, who were winners by the final of 78-67, improved their overall record to 13-1.

Jessup was led offensively by guard Natalie Moulos, who dropped 20 points on 8-of-11 from the field. Moulos got the Warriors off to a red-hot start, scoring the Warriors' first two baskets in quick order, and she would close the game by adding four boards and a pair of steals.

Makaila Napoleon closed behind Moulos with 19 points during her 24 minutes off the bench. Andrea Jovicevic (14) and Kayla Vieira (11) also ended the game in double-figures.

The Warriors had to climb out of a second-half hole in order to win Saturday's road fixture. Simpson took their largest lead of the day, an eight-point advantage, with 38 seconds remaining in the third quarter after a made three. Jessup cut the lead to five at the end of the quarter as Moulos knocked down one of four triples of her own.

Jessup connected on five threes as a team, as Jovicevic had the other make.

The Warriors were shot out of a rocket to start the fourth, as a 15-2 run had Jessup leading by seven at 65-58. Simpson was unable to come back from this run and regain the lead, as Jessup put the game in cruise control on their way to another win.

Now winners of nine straight, the Warriors have not lost a regular season contest since November 17.

Up next comes the start of Jessup's final GSAC season, as the Warriors will welcome OUAZ for the conference opener on Thursday, January 4. Tip-off against the Spirit is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Jessup will then welcome Arizona Christian to Warrior Arena on January 6.
