ROCKLIN, Calif. – After two weeks on the road, the Warriors were back on their home court Thursday as they hosted another set of Warriors, Life Pacific. Looking to regroup from a loss in Atherton, Jessup controlled the action as they took the win, 70-46.
The victory moves the Warriors to 17-3 on the season, 4-2 in conference action. Life Pacific drops to 1-5 in GSAC play.
Guard
Andrea Jovicevic led the scoring once again as she totaled 18 points to pair with seven rebounds.
Neomi Davidson also contributed double figures as she closed the night with a dozen points.
Another player who had a big night for the Warriors was
Brianna Byrnes. Byrnes finished with seven points and seven boards, and she sat down with the voice of the Warriors, Dave Rosenthal, after the game.
"(Life Pacific) has some smaller guards, so coming in, we thought our post was gonna go to work," said Byrnes. "But they did a great job. There were always three or four of them (at the post)."
LPU forced the Warriors into 17 turnovers, but they only converted those into 11 points. Jessup scored 21 points off turnovers as they forced Life Pacific to commit 17 of their own."
Another area where the Warriors of Jessup had an opportunity to shine was at the free-throw line. Jessup shot 24 free throws but only made 13 as they finished the night with a 54 percent showing at the line.
Life Pacific shot 24 percent from the floor and was led by Kyori Lloyd, who scored 14. Julianna Sanchez added 12.
The Warriors now get a day to practice before they take the court next. Byrnes noted in her interview that Jessup's competitiveness in practice is what allows them to stay motivated through what's been Jessup's best 20-game start to a season.
"We are an extremely competitive team," added Byrnes. "Sometimes too competitive…We are a bunch of girls that compete and work hard at practice."
Jessup will be back on the court on Saturday as they take on the Mustangs of The Master's University. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m., and then it's back to the road as Jessup will be in Arizona next week.
