ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Warriors have finally tasted victory on their home floor, thanks to Saturday's 48-44 victory against the Wildcats of Chico State. The win makes it back-to-back for Jessup, as they improve to 2-0 against programs from the CCAA.
Jessup is now 2-2 on the year, with all four countable games coming against other Division II programs.
Guard
Natalie Moulos led the Warriors with 15 points for the second game in a row. Moulos dropped 15 in Thursday's victory at Sonoma State, and she now averages 8.3 points per contest. Moulos connected on 5-of-13 from the field, with three of those field goals coming from beyond the arc.
Andrea Jovicevic was behind Moulos with 13 points, doing so on 4-of-13 from the floor in her 34 minutes of game time.
The Warriors led by as many as 14 on Saturday, with that advantage coming with 4:27 remaining in the opening half. It was a tale of two halves in this one, with the Warriors leading by 11 at the intermission. The lead was trimmed to ten after the third, and then came the Chico run, as they cut within three in the final minute of regulation.
A Jessup trip to the free throw line late pushed the advantage to two possessions, sealing the victory.
It was a spread-out scoring attack by the Warriors in Saturday's victory, as half of the Warriors' 48 points came off the bench. Moulos had the bulk of those as her 28 minutes came in relief.
Janea Arnoldi also added seven points off the bench.
All 44 of Chico's points came from the starting five. Jordan Allred led the scoring with 25.
Saturday's game hands Chico their first loss of the season. Jessup is now 2-2, but their next contest will not count towards their record as it is an exhibition.
The Warriors will be in Santa Clara on Thursday, beginning the first of three straight on the road. Jessup will also visit San Francisco State and Stanislaus State during their road trip. The Warriors will be back home in Rocklin on December 5 when Simpson comes to town.
