Bay Area Trip sees Jessup Fall 62-50 to SF State

The Warriors won the rebound battle, 33-31; Jessup will visit Stanislaus State on Tuesday night

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – In game two of Jessup's three-game road trip, the Warriors paid a visit to the other side of the Golden Gate, as a trip to San Francisco State was on the slate for Friday. After a one-point game at the intermission, SF State turned up the pressure in the second, as they took this contest by the final of 62-50.

The Warriors move to 2-3 in their inaugural NCAA Division II campaign. Jessup has also played two exhibitions against Division I competition that did not count toward the official record.

Jessup battled back from a 16-8 hole at the end of the first quarter, outscoring the hosting Gators 14-7 in the second to enter the locker room trailing by one. But out of the break, the Gators responded with a 17-9 third quarter, followed by a 22-19 showing in the fourth to take the game by double-figures.

Jessup shot 36 percent from the field on Friday, compared to a 38 percent showing from SFSU. Where the Gators had the biggest advantage was in the three game, as they knocked down ten triples to four from the Warriors.

Andrea Jovicevic led the scoring for the Warriors as she posted 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting performance. Andheya Aurelio knocked down nine points, all coming on 3-pointers. Natalie Moulos finished with eight, while Tatiana Newsome and Jacklyn Kulow each contributed six.

Jessup won the rebound battle, 33-31, led by three players with five boards each: Aurelio, Brianna Byrnes, and Amari Guiton. Jovicevic contributed four.

Friday was the second of three straight games away from Warrior Arena. Jessup began the road trip on Tuesday with an exhibition at Santa Clara.

The Warriors will wrap up the road trip on Tuesday as they visit Stanislaus State. That will be the final contest before Thanksgiving, with Jessup's next game being at home on December 5.
