SURPRISE, Ariz. – Coming off a victory on Thursday to start the Warriors' final trip to Arizona as members of the GSAC, Jessup was in Surprise on Saturday to take on OUAZ. Looking to stay unbeaten in this matchup, Jessup fought off a late run to earn a 74-69 victory.
The Warriors are 19-4 on the season, 6-3 in the GSAC. With 19 wins, Jessup is just one shy of equaling the program record for the most wins in a single season. Five games remain in the regular season before the GSAC Tournament.
Jessup also remains perfect against OUAZ, as they improve to 12-0 all-time in this series.
Five Warriors scored in double-figures on Saturday, as
Andrea Jovicevic led the pack with her 18-point performance. Jovicevic connected on 6-of-11 from the floor, adding a pair of steals on the defensive end as well.
There was also a pack of Warriors who added 11 points, as
Neomi Davidson,
Natalie Moulos,
Makaila Napoleon, and Kayla Viera all dropped 11.
Jessup led by eight at the intermission and kept the lead at eight through three quarters as both sides split the third period 22-22. OUAZ made a run in the fourth quarter to steal the lead away, but it was not enough as Jessup kept their grip down the late stretches.
As scores trickle in from around the GSAC, Jessup remains in third place behind Menlo and Vanguard.
Now, the Warriors return home to play three in a row on Horton Court, starting with Hope International and Pink Night. Partnering with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, Jessup will host Play4Kay night on February 8.
