SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Warriors were on the track this weekend in Sacramento as they competed in Sacramento State's Hornet Invitational. For the second week in a row, the throwers stole the show as one Jessup athlete posted the top mark in the nation.
Freshman
Julia Pisenti, who punched her ticket to nationals a week ago, was back at it with a dominating performance in the discus. Pisenti's best throw was 46.80m which not only breaks the Jessup record, but it also sets a new top mark across the NAIA.
Pisenti's mark hit the A-Stardard for the second week in a row as she gets ready for her first career trip to Indiana for the NAIA National Championship.
Another thrower who has punched her ticket to nationals is
Jessica Pedretti. Pedretti shined in the hammer this weekend, as her mark of 47.30m breaks the Jessup record and sets a new PR for her in the event.
But it wasn't just the throwers who had a good showing, as the distance runners had a good performance once again. All runners in the 3000m set a new PR, as
Azalea Prince (10:25),
Cheyenne Ulrich (11:56), and
Vivianna Gardea (12:08) were in the women's field.
Xavier Morales (9:44),
Zachary Heberlein (9:50), and
Ethan Loomis (10:23) were in the field in the men's 3000m.
Jessup also saw PR from the women's 4x100m relay, moving them to third in school history.
The Warriors will be back in action on March 21 for the start of the Pat Ryan Invitational in Santa Rosa. Jessup will return to Sacramento State on April 6.
