SANTA ROSA, Calif. – The Warriors wrapped up the two-day Pat Ryan Invitational on Friday as the outdoor season continued from Santa Rosa. On another day filled with PRs, one Warrior has secured a second event she will compete in at the NAIA National Championship.
Freshman
Julia Pisenti has already secured a trip to Indiana with her A-Standard in the discus. On Friday, she punched her ticket in a second event when she met the A-Standard in the shot put. Pisenti broke the Jessup record with her mark of 13.69m, which earned her first in the field.
Pisenti's mark measures out to 44 feet, 11 inches.
"Julia had the best meet of her career," said head coach
Jeff Magley. "She had multiple throws over her lifetime PR. So, for a true freshman to have two A-Standards in the first half of the season is obviously a big highlight for us."
Erica Waseq had another highlight day for the Warriors, as she posted three new PRs. Waseq took first in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.81. She also posted new PRs in the 100m (12.72) and 200m (27.04).
Waseq qualified for indoor nationals but is still looking to secure a trip to Indiana for the outdoor competition.
Weather played a factor in the competition, as rain hit Santa Rosa midway through Friday's competition. Even with the weather, distance runner
Vivianna Gardea was able to set a new PR in the 5000m with her time of 20:46.23.
Jeremiah Price also posted a PR, coming in the long jump with his mark of 6.21m.
