MOORPARK, Calif. – The 2024 Golden State Athletic Conference Championship has wrapped up from Moorpark College. Following two action-packed days on the track, Jessup is bringing home ten individual titles, while one athlete is adding a second event to their itinerary at the national championship.
Jessup's final GSAC Championship has concluded with the women's side placing third and the men taking fourth.
The highlight of the meet came on day one, Wednesday, as
Jessica Pedretti took home the GSAC Championship in the hammer. Her mark of 50.74 not only breaks the Jessup University record but it also hit the A-Standard, securing Pedretti a spot in the field next month in Indiana.
It's the second A-Standard of the season for Pedretti, as she previously qualified in the discus. She joins teammate
Julia Pisenti, who has also hit the A-Standard twice. Pedretti added a second conference championship on Thursday with her mark of 40.26m in the javelin, which also hit the A-Standard. Perdretti is the first athlete in Jessup history to qualify in the discus, hammer, and javelin.
Pisenti is going home with the most individual titles of the Warriors, as she was top of the conference in three field events. Pisenti won the shot put on Wednesday, edging past Pedretti with her mark of 12.90m. She then added championships on Thursday in the discus (49.66m) and triple jump (10.44m). Pisenti was also an all-conference finisher in the pole vault.
The freshman leaves Moorpark as the GSAC Freshman of the Year and Field Athlete of the Meet. She also earned the Overall Athlete of the Meet, making her the first in Jessup history to win all three awards in one year.
Finishing first in the pole vault was
Paloma Baumert, as she again hit the B-Standard in that event with her mark of 3.35m.
Thursday saw the Warriors claim four titles on the track. On the men's side, freshman
Gianni Miles is a two-time champion, as he finished first in the 100m (10.63) and 200m (21.69).
Erica Waseq claimed a championship in the 100m hurdles (14.76). Senior
Alexander Travis finished his GSAC career with a title in the decathlon.
All Warriors will have another chance to qualify for nationals as part of the West Coast Last Chance Meet on May 10.
The meet also saw several All-Conference finishers from the Warriors. To make the All-GSAC list, an athlete must finish in the top three in their events.
The additional Warriors to finish All-GSAC are Waseq (100m), Baumer (100m), Travis (Pole Vault), Everett Baeder (Decathlon),
Eleanor Kania (long jump, 4x100),
Mia Lagunas (4x400),
Julissa Casillas (4x100, 4x400),
Alexander Travis (pole vault),
Logan Scammell (4x100, 4x400),
